One of the many things we enjoy about Fremont County, Cañon City and the Royal Gorge region is the sense of community we share. Across the county are several smaller towns and cities where families have lived for generations, and friendly folks built thriving businesses. The best way to see and experience all the area has to offer is to plan on combining activities and destinations. You may not be able to see it all in one trip, but we’ll do our best to help and the Royal Gorge Route Railroad is happy to work with Partners representing a variety of area Attractions so you can make the most of our visit, whether it’s a few hours, or several days.

Imagine riding the train through one of the grandest river canyons in North America, relaxing on board while you enjoy a tasty meal, and then stepping off the train directly into your Zipline gear! Our Partners can make that happen. Click here for information about the unique combination of Zip & Rail.

Or, if you prefer to get a little higher off the ground, and really fly, consider Rails to Rotors for an unforgettable aerial view of the Royal Gorge and surrounding mountain peaks aboard a rotary aircraft – otherwise known as a helicopter.

We work with the best whitewater rafting operators in the business to offer unforgettable packages that include an excursion aboard the train before, or after, your trip down the tumbling Arkansas River. In our region, near its headwaters, the 1,469 mile-long Arkansas runs as a steep mountain river through the Rockies in its narrow valley, dropping 4,600 feet (1.4 km) in 120 miles (193 km). Click here for more information and to select one of our Rafting Partners for your trip through some of North America’s best whitewater. No matter which rafting partner you decide to make part of your adventure in the Royal Gorge region, it’s guaranteed to be a good time on the river, enhanced by spectacular wilderness scenery you’ll remember for a lifetime.

If your visit to the Royal Gorge region includes spending the night in a tent, travel trailer or luxury RV with all the comforts of home, our Campground Partners offer several great options for places to set up camp or park your rig. And if your idea of roughing it is a comfy bed at the inn or bed & breakfast, select from several options offered by our Lodging Partners.

Naturally, our welcome gate here in the Royal Gorge region swings both ways, so if your travel planning helped you find our travel and vacation Partners before you found us, be sure and ask them about discounts aboard Colorado’s first and finest scenic railroad. Ask about special packages they may be offering in collaboration with the Royal Gorge Route Railroad.

If our Reservations Team or any of our staff at Royal Gorge Route Railroad can assist you with locating our Partners, or help you with information about the services and products they offer, please ask.  We are happy to help.
