Length of the Trip

 

9:30AM, 12:30PM daily and 3:30PM departures :  Enjoy a 2 hour journey through the Royal Gorge.

6:30PM departures for Dinner/Murder Mystery on Saturday Evenings only:  Enjoy a 3-hour leisurely ride through the Royal Gorge at the best time of day - twilight.

Please arrive 45 minutes prior to departure to pick up your tickets.  All seating is assigned/reserved.  For special seating requests, please call Reservations, 888.724.5748.  Trains depart on time as scheduled.

The 2nd rider in the same reservation will be $100. 

Purchase the 2nd ticket as an upgrade on the next page.  There are only 2 seats in the Engine for Cab riders.  The Cab ride is available on most departures excluding the Santa Express and New Year's Eve Dinner Train.

Perhaps our most unique offering, this lets the kid in you ride in the locomotive with a real-live engineer.  Enjoy a ride with the Engineer through the scenic Royal Gorge.  You will ride in the Cab for the first part of the trip to Parkdale.  At this time you will be seated in the Vista Dome or with the rest of your party in the Sunshine Falls Bar & Parlor Car or Coach classes of service.

Pre-purchase a Breakfast Entree on the 9:30AM departure for $9.95 for adults or on the 12:30PM deparutres pre-purchase the Grill Entree Package for $13.50 for adults.  The Cab Rider would order their meal on the return trip in the Vista Dome or Sunshine Falls Parlor and Bar car. 

CAB RIDE RULES AND REGULATIONS

- No more than two (2) riders in the cab at any one time.
- Must be at least 18 years of age if riding alone, or a minimum of 13 years of age when accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.
- All cab riders must be able to stand, walk, sit and climb stairs without assistance and without the aid of any assistive device. Cab riders who are blind or deaf must be accompanied by a companion.
- Use of a digital camera for photography is permitted.
- Mobile phones must be OFF or in ‘airplane mode’.
- No self-contained breathing equipment (oxygen) or service animals.
- All riders must wear proper clothing (shorts, skirts and tank tops are not permitted). Full length slacks or jeans are required.
- No open-toed shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.) or high heels.
- Cab rides may not be available on some departures, and specifically exclude Santa Express departures.

Vista Dome

These enclosed, glass-domed cars offer the most spectacular views of the Arkansas River, the Royal Gorge, and the Royal Gorge Bridge.  Look up or look out – you’ll have a front row seat to it all.

Break bread with your friends and family as you sink into your comfortable booth-styled seats for a relaxing roll through this meandering canyon. 

Knowledgeable and friendly folks will take your breakfast or lunch order from the train’s new bistro-style menu.  They’ll also help you pair it up with your favorite drinks from the Royal Gorge Route’s fully stocked bar.  Hint:  Try the Royal Gorge Rogue, the train’s new microbrew.

Of course, the open-air car is just a hop, skip and a jump away.  Don’t forget your camera!

Club Class

Club Class is the Royal Gorge Route’s newest class of service.  Here, you’ll experience comfortable table seating, full-service dining and front row views of this dazzling canyon.

Enjoy our fresh approach to railcar dining by ordering from the chef’s new bistro-style lunch menu.Think fresh, Colorado ingredients, all made to order in the chef’s kitchen aboard the train.

Learn more about Colorado’s most historic train route from your friendly server, who will also pick up your favorite drinks from this railroad’s fully stocked bar, including locally produced wines from the award-winning Winery at Holy Cross Abbey.

From here, you’ll have direct access to the new Roosevelt Bar Car, where you can mingle, grab another drink and make your way to the open-air car where breathtaking views await.

All Bar class passengers have a full menu of delicious food items that may be ordered while seated in the Bar and Parlor Car for both breakfast, lunch and dinner (additional charges apply). Take in the full Royal Gorge Route experience by visiting the new Roosevelt Bar Car or Sunshine Falls Parlor & Bar Car to order from the chef’s new bistro-style menu featuring light snacks, appetizers and other favorites like Flatbacks for breakfast and the Basil Chicken Panini for lunch.  All dishes are prepared on board and many are made with fresh ingredients grown or raised right here in Colorado. 

Both of the Royal Gorge Route’s Bar Cars offer your favorite libation, microbrew, wine and other beverages to quench your thirst and pair perfectly with your dish.

Step outside on the open-air car for a fresh-air moment where the up-close-and-personal nature of this 1,000-foot deep and oh-so-narrow canyon will remind you of the awesome beauty produced by our good friend, Mother Nature.

The Coach class is available on 12:30PM departures starting March 8th, 2014 with additional departures being added through the season.

The Dinner Train is Colorado's most unique rolling restaurant, offering delicious entrees and wines from around the country to compliment. Imagine fine dining, exceptional service, and delicious food combined with the spectacular scenery of the Royal Gorge seasoned with a ride on the rails behind a 1950's streamliner. Dinner class offers reserved seating and private open-air car.

This is the train that the Rocky Mountain News chose as the best in Colorado and for good reason. Where else can you go and enjoy a delicious 3-course meal, extraordinary service, and luxurious surroundings and entertainment, all while riding the rails? Dinner trains offer reserved seating and private open-air car.

Murder Mystery Train

$119 / Person
(Minimum age of 8 years old and well behaved.)

Groups and individual guests discover “who dunnit” during one of several themed murder mystery dinner performances on select evenings throughout the year. Large group engagements may also be scheduled upon request. Our award winning dinner fare is included with seasonal entrees prepared fresh by our chef.

Oktoberfest Lunch

Come join us daily September 13 through October 12, 2013 on our 12:30 PM departure to celebrate Oktoberfest! In addition to our regular lunch menu, we're adding a special Oktoberfest entree  Choose "Oktoberfest Entree" with your entree choice.

 

We'll also have traditional Oktoberfest beer for the occasion. Live accordion music by Barry Habermann will be available on every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Oktoberfest departure. Come join us for this fun filled event. Prost!

Please arrive 45 minutes prior to departure to pick up your tickets.  All seating is assigned/reserved.  Trains depart promptly. The train ride is 1.5 hours round trip. 

 

Ride with Santa! St. Nick visits the Royal Gorge each year on the Santa Express. Professionally decorated trains carry children of all ages to meet Santa at the North Pole while they sip hot cocoa, nibble on cookies and listen to holiday stories and festive tunes. Thousands of lights bedeck the festive North Pole Village in the Gorge itself where Santa Claus boards the train to hear children’s Christmas wishes and to gift each child with a special holiday bell. The train departs on select afternoons and evenings throughout November and December .

Delicious grilled-to-order items, full-service bar & wine list are available when seated in Club Class and Vista Dome.

Coach guests have access to the Concession Car for food items and beverages and the Parlor and Bar Car for adult drinks.  All classes of service have access to an open air car.

Please Note: Santa Express is extremely popular and dates sell out months in advance. We strongly recommend making your reservation early. When selecting a date, if you do not see the ticket quantity selection, that particular class of service is sold out. You must then choose another class and/or date.


 

Holiday Train - 12:30PM departure

Experience the ultimate Royal Gorge experience in our classic 1950s Dome Car or seating in our 1st class dining cars.  You'll be treated to some of the most stunning scenery in Colorado along with the ambiance and nostalgia of a bygone era.

The train departs at 12:30PM Dec 26-30 and Jan 2-5, 2014 for the 2 hour round trip ride.

Special Offer: Pre-purchase our meal deal special for $13.95 per adult and $8.25 per child to save up to $3.00 per meal. You will be given this option when making an online reservation.


 

New Year's Eve

What better way to enjoy New Year's Eve than on Colorado's top dinner train - The Royal Gorge Route!  As the train leaves the depot, relax, order a glass of wine from our excellent wine menu, step out onto our open-air car and enjoy the beauty of the Royal Gorge as the lights from the train highlight this spectacular canyon.

In the tradition of railroad dining, guests will be seated at tables of 4.  It is most likely you will be seated with another couple. 99.99% of our guests enjoy their time meeting fellow railfans. If you wish to have a private table for two, you may purchase a private table for an additional $218.00. Otherwise, you will be seated at a table of four. Larger groups will be seated at adjacent tables.
