National Group Sales Representative
Position Objective:
Establishes and maintains productive relationships with clients, focusing on active, effective prospecting and marketing to expand group business, develop new accounts, and maximize sales potential with existing customers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of vocational education and experience
- 3 years professional experience in sales/marketing
- Strong sales aptitude and excellent customer service skills
- Effective and strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Presentation and public speaking skills
- Demonstrated skill as a negotiator and with contract management
- Solid knowledge and experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Expertise with Social Media: Facebook and Twitter
- Ability to work independently and on own initiative; managing own workload
- Ability to work well within a small team and office environment
- Local, regional and national overnight travel. Clean driving record with reliable transportation
- Excellent attitude and very comfortable working independently or with a diverse team
Position Duties:
- Develop group business in key industry segments including:
- ‘Traditional’ motor coach tours on single or multi-day itineraries (members of NTA, ABA, etc.)
- Corporate meetings, special events, reward & incentive programs
- Conference and convention activities
- Affinity groups, alumni associations, membership & educational travel
- Identify and engage emerging travel & tourism markets
- Qualify all leads, both from inside and outside sources (past customers, current contacts, CVB’s, etc) and follow up with promo material. Establish, record and track contacts as:
- Leads: Organizations thought to be a strong sales opportunity following initial contact
- Prospects: Respond to requests for information, schedule meetings, engage in on-going communication & follow up, and assign a‘Target Rating’
- Clients: New and existing Group business, under contract
- Build and maintain partnerships and collaborations with other industry groups, engaging in opportunities to develop new business by attending networking functions with: chamber/convention bureaus, trade associations, tourism shows and conferences. Meet directly with Corporate prospects to develop meeting, special event and incentive business
- Manage marketing data using applicable sales management tools/systems (e.g. Database, email leads, computerized call calendars) to maximize efficiency and analyze data/marketing activity to sharpen effectiveness and redirect activity as warranted
- Contribute to and assist in activities, events, marketing initiatives and promotions intended to build the RGR brand, increase awareness of the RGR as a destination and increase awareness of the services RGR offers our guests
- Actively manage short-and long-term leads from external sources to qualify prospects and advance them through the sales process (by phone, mail, email, and in person)
- Monitor and maintain appropriate level of activity and communication on Social Media sites
- Report all activities on weekly basis with Sales and Marketing Manager to ensure accountability and to demonstrate effectiveness
- Track gathered statistical information to identify key sales territories, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
- Assist group travel planners, or provide resources to assist them in developing routes, schedules and itineraries that include dining and passage aboard the RGR
- Demonstrate initiative and creativity in contributing marketing and sales strategies and recommendations to management team
- Keep accurate records of all expenses and submit expense as required
- Continually learn and update knowledge of train experience and history, including information about attractions and visitor services in the region
- Perform other duties and participate in special projects as necessary and required
Working Conditions:
- Variable work environment; work is conducted both indoors and out under varying environmental conditions
- Several hours per day may be spent operating a personal motor vehicle
- Appearance at all times must reflect a positive image of the company, a company uniform may be required
- Office may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning, telecommuting possibilities also exist
- Fast-paced environment: subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity including long days, weekends and holidays

- The Royal Gorge Route Railroad deals with the public on a daily basis. We are “Safety First” conscious and people oriented. We are committed to maintain a drug-free workplace. This means that we do not tolerate the possession of drugs or alcohol on the premises, nor do we permit our staff to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- We are a smoke free workplace and do not permit employees to smoke on the premises.
